The Michael James Design Team has the resources to turn a house or garden into your personal dream home. Michael James, a California licensed landscape architect, and Sherri James, an interior  designer, are graduates of the University of California at Berkeley. They formed an environmental design firm to provide the best in residential and commercial design. With a team of experienced staff, the MJDT can handle every aspect of a new building, a renovation, an addition, or garden. They handle the furnishing or refurbishing of both the home and the garden. They take you through the entire design process providing assurances that your dreams will become a reality and, at the same time, encouraging your personal creativity. In addition to the usual samples, fabric swatches, photos, floor plans, furniture layout plans, and site plans; the MJDT can provide additional sketches, line drawings, and full color renderings to ensure that you fully understand exactly what your home, rooms, and garden will look like when completed. The MJDT will work with you until you are completely happy with the look and the elements. And then it is full steam ahead to make those dreams come true. Having raised 5 children, Michael & Sherri James are qualified to design a safe and pleasant environment for your family.

Interior Designer

Sherri has completed numerous high-end residential projects and supervised the installation of her designs in hotels, music studios, executive offices, bank branches and headquarters, and historical restorations. She is experienced in bringing design projects in on time and on budget, has demonstrated exceptional ability in designing in a wide variety of styles, and specializes in harmonious color schemes. Sherri enjoys working with her clients to express their personal style.

Michael James

Landscape Architect

Michael is licensed by the State of California, #2127, and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He is experienced in coordinating with allied professions and government officials, as well as, managing projects from initial site observation to successful completion. He creates harmonious and smooth flowing indoor and outdoor living spaces. His work consists of architectural detailing, space planning, site planning, and garden designs including swimming pools and garden structures.

Jack Snyder

Interior Designer

Jack has been designing for over 25 years, starting his career with restaurant design in New York. He works both sides of the country in designing and overseeing the construction of high-end homes, hotel lobbies, restaurants and nightclubs.  He has been a contributing writer for several New York magazines, and his work has been published in such magazines as Interiors, New York Living Magazine, Nightlife, The New York Times, Home Section, House and Garden, and Home.  Jack has been described as a designer who "pushes the envelope and gets the project done."  

Pat Emery

Interior Designer

Pat has been in the design field for 30 years. She has been involved in national and international projects, both residential and commercial. She has worked with MJDT on numerous projects since 1987.  Pat’s design styles are versatile, ranging from traditional to modern.  She specializes in combining the aesthetics of the job with the practical functions and personal needs of her clients.  Pat has been a contributor to New York Living Magazine.
